Creative/Educational

Early Reading
First Grade
Lessons geared to improve reading fluency with comprehension include sight word vocabulary, phonics basics and sounding it out strategies. We will read, discuss and write about award winning books matched to the interests of the class.

Reader’s Workshop
Second Grade
High quality literature will be used as a base for a writer’s workshop. Fun, motivating projects will inspire and improve young readers.

One on One/ Semi Private Tutoring
All ages
Instruction will be specifically geared to the diverse developmental learning differences, visual and perceptual, cultural and socioemotional, special physical or emotional challenges and gifted and talented exceptionalities. Parents will be provided with progress reports. Tutoring is available on a one on one basis as well as in a semi private group.
Private Tutoring: $45/hour/ Ten sessions $400.
Semi Private: $25/hour per child

Math and Science Connections
Ages 4-6
Bring math to life through science concepts and simple experiments. Explore, create, and discover by finding relationships through real experiences. Remember to bring your five senses with you!

Cyber Adventures

Cooking Around the World I

Main meals from around the world will be created each week in this cooking class such as Mexican pizza, Chinese lo mein, and Italian stuffed shells.

Storybook Cuisine

Enjoy a delightful story followed by bringing a story-related recipe to life.

Little Chefs I
Ages 4-5
Create foods such as cakes, cookies, and main meal dishes that encourage
children to mix, measure and spoon out their own ingredients.

Little Chefs II
Ages 4-5
Prepare foods that require chopping, grating and blending flavors as we create mini-meals such as spaghetti and meatballs, tacos, and others.

Beginning Alphabet Knowledge
Age 3
This class will use award winning authors to foster a love of literature. Crafts and drama will build letter recognition, letter sound knowledge and vocabulary.

Building Early Reading Prerequisites
Age 4
This class will use quality literature as a basis for literacy growth in vocabulary, letter sounds, writing and early reading. Lessons are designed in accordance with class levels.

Biddy Basketball III
Grades 1-2
An intermediate level basketball class focusing on the fundamental skills of
dribbling, passing, and shooting with an emphasis on sportsmanship and
team play as we learn to incorporate the basic skills into the game.

Biddy Basketball III Advanced
Grades 1-2
Designed for the 1st and 2nd grader who has completed Biddy Basketball III and is ready to be introduced to more challenging skill work and game concepts.

Cheerleading for Little Ones
Grades 1-2
An introduction to the world of cheerleading. Includes jumps, cheers and chants.

Cheerleading Rocks!
Grades 1-2
Basic stunting and tumbling skills will further enhance your cheerleading
know-how learned in the Cheerleading for Little Ones class.

Football FUNdamentals
Grades 1-2
An intro to football with an emphasis on the skills of throwing and cathing while developing an understanding of the game.

Lacrosse II - Indoors
Grades 1-2
Learn the basics of the fastest growing sport around! Game concepts will be
introduced.

Lacrosse II – Outdoors
Grades 1-2
This class will further develop the skills covered in Indoor Lacrosse II. Playing
the game in an outdoor setting will be emphasized.

Gymnastics IV
Grades 1-2
Children will perfect basic gymnastics skills and create fun and exciting routines
using different apparatus and tumbling skills. A performance for parents
at the end of the session will highlight each child’s skills.

S.N.A.G. Golf
Grades 1-2
Starting New At Golf is a fun and easy-to-learn system developed to be a transition into the game of golf.

Sports Club II
Grades 1-2
Floor hockey, basketball, and soccer will all be covered with a greater emphasis on a games approach to skill development.

Swim N’ Gymnastics III
Grades 1-2
This class starts with 45 minutes of gymnastics activities that include tumbling
skills and work on the balance beam, vault and bars followed by 30 minutes of water activities that encourage children to develop their swim abilities.

Tae Kwon Do Dragons
Grades K-1
Children will learn kicks, punches and blocks through an assortment of fun
games. Concentrate on learning the important life lessons of respect, discipline,
and self-control.

Tennis III - Outdoors
Grades 1-4
The Wyckoff Y’s tennis pro, Kris Gmerek, will introduce forehand and backhand strokes to the beginning tennis player. Meet at the Y at 4:15pm and be transported to Brookside Tennis and Racquet Club. Pick-up will be back at the YMCA at 5:45pm.

Tennis III Advanced - Outdoors
Grades 1-4
Returning or intermediate players will further develop their strokes as we work
on integrating court movement and proper body positioning into your forehand,
backhand, and volleys. Meet at the Y at 4:15pm and be transported to Brookside Tennis and Racquet Club. Pick-up will be back at the YMCA at 5:45pm.

In our NEW indoor tennis program, the Wyckoff Y’s tennis pro, Kris Gmerek, will introduce forehand and backhand strokes to the beginning tennis player.

Returning or intermediate players can further develop their strokes from our fall sessions as we work on integrating court movement and proper body positioning into your forehand, backhand, and volleys. Class conducted at the Wyckoff Y indoor “courts”

Cross Country Clinic with Joel Pasternak
Grades 1-8
Wed. 6-7pm at theWyckoff YMCA
Work with a top area high school track coach and veteran long distance runner
to be trained in distance and cross country running. Stretching and conditioning
regiments, proper athlete nutrition, and proper training techniques will be emphasized.
Full Members $75

A creative and fun gymnastics class with a focus on self-confidence through movement and strength skills on tumbling mats and apparatus. A performance for parents at the end of the session will allow each child to display their gymnastics skills.

Culinary Arts I

Entrees will be our focus to include stuffed shells with garlic bread and chicken and cheese quesadillas with cinnamon sugar crisps.

Culinary Arts II
Grades 4-7
We will develop our cooking skills to prepare delicious desserts such as layered
cookie bars, peppermint bark and thumbprint cookies.

Senior Chefs I
Grades 4-7
Advance your cooking techniques with more intricate cuisine, such as lasagna rolls, antipasto salad and marinated chicken shish-ka-bob.

Senior Chefs II
Grades 4-7
Develop the skills necessary to create appetizers and desserts such as ankobreaded chicken tenders with homemade honey mustard sauce and chocolate chunk biscotti.

Mother/Daughter Book Club
This fun club is especially designed for mothers (or grandmothers) and daughters in the fifth and sixth grades who love books and talking about them, too. We’ll choose our books at the first meeting and enjoy delicious refreshments at each one!

Volleyball – Bump It Up Clinic

Learn the skills and strategies of competitive volleyball. In addition to passing
and bumping, setting, and spiking, the more competitive level skills of digs,
blocking and serving will be covered.

Advanced Soccer Clinic
